Elfin Music

Using Percy Bysshe Shelley's poetic flight of fancy, this is an engaging, spirited romp into a magical world where creatures "gibber their joy in sleep, drunk with the honey wine of the moon ... which fairies catch in hyacinth buds." The lightness and general feel are faintly reminiscent of the approaches to A Midsummer Night's Dream brought by Mendelssohn's famous scherzo and Vaughan Williams' delightful Over Hill, Over Dale.
