Santa's North Pole workshop is abuzz with excitement! The elves are busy making toys for children all around the world, but apparently they are not busy enough to keep from gossiping about the new elf in town, Elfis. Poor Elfis is the target of their ridicule and jokes simply because he looks and acts differently from all the other elves. They even accuse him of being an "elf impersonator!" Feeling unloved and downtrodden, Elfis sings the blues and runs away. When Santa, Mrs. Claus and the reindeer learn what has happened, they are outraged! Santa immediately sends the reindeer out to find Elfis and bring him back. Meanwhile, he and Mrs. Claus remind the elves that they should accept others for who they are, no matter what their differences. The elves are ashamed of themselves, and when Elfis returns they apologize and ask him to lead them in a song of celebration. Everyone sings and dances together for a lively Christmas finale! This delightful musical features five original songs, and the clever Elfis character is a natural for shades and other costuming touches identified with the "king of rock and roll." Don't miss this one...Uh-huh, uh-huh! The performance kit contains a teacher's handbook, 1 reproducible student edition and a P/A CD. Grades K-4. 20 minutes.
