Eternal Spring

A heartfelt eulogy for bassoonist Robin Sullivan, composed for her husband, trumpetist Robert Sullivan. The work celebrates her life and music (including a quote from Mozart’s bassoon concerto) with poignant melodies and an uplifting spirit. Matheson cites inspiration from Bach's writing for violin, from the grand tradition of the concerto repertoire, and from the enticing modern ironies of M.C. Escher, all combined with Matheson's imagination for the sensibly unpredictable.
