Inspired by the California Gold Rush of the mid-1800s and Wild West movie soundtracks, this joyful fanfare for young bands is the perfect concert opener. The main melody encompasses just the first five notes of the B-flat major scale, but all the notes of B-flat major, plus an A-flat, are used. Repeated eighth notes and some syncopation in the accompaniment keep the energy going until the final chord. Correlates with Tradition of Excellence Book 1, page 30.
