Expedition

Set out to explore the D major scale! This easy piece uses only quarter, half, and whole notes with frequent unison rhythms to help young players build confidence as they venture into independent harmonic lines. With violin 2 doubling viola and cello doubling bass, the scale-based passages will give even a small ensemble a big, full sound. Melodic material is passed to all sections, and players can practice maintaining a steady tempo during a brief pizzicato section with piano provided for support.
