Faces of Janus

Janus, the Roman god of doorways from whom the month of January takes its name, has one face in the front of his head and another in the back. He was the god of beginnings and endings and could look both forward and backward at the same time. In the same way, this exciting concert overture for full orchestra looks both to the past and the future of orchestral music. At 13 minutes in length, it makes an effective concert opener for youth orchestras as well as professional groups, and it appeals to a broad audience of concert-goers.
