Fanfare for the Crown is a festive and accessible concert opener or closer for brass choir based on the beloved hymn tune Coronation ("All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name"). Written for the Messiah University Brass Choir, the work revisits one of the composer's earliest brass ensemble arrangements, first written more than 30 years earlier as a student conductor. Rhythmic energy, broad lyrical statements, and antiphonal exchanges of the familiar melody create a celebratory character while remaining rewarding to prepare and perform. Scored for 3 trumpets, 3 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.
