Farewell Celebration

Farewell Celebration is a programmatic piece in two major sections. The first section is solemn brief expressive nostalgic and is full of memories. It portrays someone beloved going away or perhaps their separation from loved ones in death. A brief triumphant and positive Moderato interjects the section before immediately digressing back into the original solemn atmosphere. The brass takes on the original material before the second part begins. The contrasting second section which develops the rest of the piece is celebratory and full of joy. Consider the philosophy that funerals should be about celebrating life rather than full of sadness. The second section exemplifies this allowing a few moments of expressive reflection but is always trying furiously to overcome it.
