Fawn Grove Fanfare was commissioned by the Bel Air (Maryland) Community Band - Richard Hauf, Director - in honor of Scott Sharnetzka and his 25-year tenure as former director of the BACB. Scott, a long-time resident of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania, loved to share his inspirational leadership and joy for making music with community musicians - a spirit reflected in this music. Scott and the BACB have been an important part of my musical and personal life and our association, which dates back to 1999, is something for which I’m most grateful. In addition to being a commemorative celebration, this piece is also a reaffirmation of the spirit that brings us together to share our passion for making music with one another.
