finish line

When I was asked to write a piece for the Grisham Middle School Saxophone Ensemble, I knew right away that I wanted it to be insanely rhythmic, insanely fast, and above all, insanely fun. I had previously written a piece for the school called Ready. Set. Go.—a high-energy work centered around the  excitement of starting a race or a journey. With Finish Line, I wanted to continue that theme of progress and perseverance, but this time with a focus on the feeling of reaching the goal—the adrenaline of the final stretch, the exhilaration of crossing the finish line, and the joy of achievement. That fleeting but powerful rush—that moment—is what I aimed to capture through music, rhythm, and energy. This is Finish Line
