Firm Foundation: Five Preludes on Shape-Note Tunes

Five familiar shape-note hymn tunes are arranged in delightful settings for organ. Shape notes are used in a style of notation in which the notes are written with different shapes to teach music literacy. The five tunes in this collection were first published in shape-note hymnals: FOUNDATION; HOLY MANNA; JEFFERSON; NEW BRITAIN and THE SAINTS' DELIGHT. Styles range from mysterious and haunting to rousing jig and lilting mixed meter.
