The Four Kinetic Portraits are early works I composed between 1992-1999. These are challenging works that are for advanced high school, collegiate or adult ensembles. Each of the movements can be performed individually, or the four portraits can be performed as a multi-movement work. Approximate performance times: No. 1-7:33; No. 2-4:29; No. 3-6:32 No. 4-3:11. No. 1 was composed in 1999, and was originally named "The Metamorphosis." No. 2 was originally composed in 1998 and named "Solitude." No. 3 was commissioned by my friend Dan Bell in 1996 for the Rangeview H.S. orchestra in Aurora, Colorado. It was originally named "The Wedding." No. 4 was composed in 1992, and was originally given the not-so-serious title "Son of Blob."
