It can be performed for a concert but also for more festive and friendly occasions. Antigua is an island of 442 km, and the capital city is St. John's, there are less than 100,000 inhabitants. The British people colonized it in 1632. They first cultivated tobacco, indigo, then sugar cane, and all insured the wealth of the island over two centuries. Slaves were freed in 1834. Antigua was part of Leeward Islands until 1959. It became an associate with a self-managed government in 1967, and then it became a Commonwealth independent member in 1981. Today this island is well-known for tourism but also for light manufacturing and offshore banks.
