I was asked by a ballet teacher to write a short piece in two sections for a ballet solo. She admired french music/film music, so I imagined a studio in Paris on a summers day- all the windows open- large room filled with sunshine. A solitary dancer in a chiffon dress and she dances completely in her own world.
This original waltz, has some of the romantic lines and influences of french composers fused with film harmonies.
It is abundant in unusual/surprise progressions and It is in ternary form with a livelier middle section.
It has been used in classical ballet as a free dance for solo, auditions etc.
It would also work well as a radio or TV theme for the appropriate programme.
