Available in print, digital download, and online formats, this musical storybook tells the story of Pati, an American Dominican girl who visits her grandmother in the Dominican Republic during the summertime. Nurtured by her Mami (Mommy) and Abuelita (Granny), Pati goes on a musical exploration into one of the most widespread Dominican folkloric musical traditions, los palos, and learns about the instruments, rhythmic patterns, singing, and meaning embedded in the musical expression. Through it she becomes one with the people in a big celebration of life and love! The digital download and online interactive Flipbook include both the English and Spanish versions. The Flipbook also includes narration and music from the Dominican Republic. A teaching guide is also available that includes background information on Dominican folk music, standards connections, lesson activities, coloring pages, a vocal score, and an instrumental score for percussion instruments.
