From the Window of Despair

A setting of seven haiku written by Japanese Americans forced to live in internment camps during WWII, this work for six-part treble chorus is a powerful testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. Dissonance and layers of harmonies and mixed meter present a swirling texture of sound that offers context for the words.
