George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) was one of the most important composers of the late Baroque period. The gavotte is a French dance that was popular during that time. Gavotte and Variation was originally written for keyboard (in Handel's day, it would most likely have been played on the harpsichord). This is a transcription for brass quartet (2 Bb trumpets, F horn and trombone) of an arrangement originally written for mixed woodwind quartet (also available from JWP). Grade 3 - Duration 1:45
