George Gershwin's "Preludes for Piano" of 1926 is probably his best-known work for solo piano. Of the 3 preludes in this set, the second one is the most popular and most often heard. This arrangement for saxophone quartet is transposed down a semitone from the original C# minor/F# major to the more sax-friendly C minor/F major. It gives young sax players an opportunity to enjoy learning some classic Gershwin. An optional 1st alto part (grade 4 range) is included to substitute for soprano sax.
