"Gliding" is this year's "pretty song" in my series. "Tiered Tunes" is a new type of young band arrangement designed specifically to appropriately challenge all members of a band despite a wide variation of skills levels. Three distinct difficulty levels are included for all instruments, all with interesting melodic parts.
In "Gliding," the first pass is a unison statement of the pretty, flowing melody using just the "first five" notes. Next, Tiers 2 and 3 diverge to a slightly more demanding countermelody and finally, Tier 3 adds a more challenging (optional) countermelody requiring a bit more range, soaring over the top.
Concert ranges are: Bb-F / A-Ab / A- high Eb
