Who says the band is the only ensemble that gets to play at the pep rallies? Go off is the ultimate Orchestral hype piece that will get the audience out of their seats and moving. This is the perfect Grade 2 piece for your 2nd-3rd year middle school ensemble or early highschool Ensemble. The syncopated, infectious ostinato that opens the piece is addictive and will energize your students. The call and response section beginning at measure 27 pits the high strings against the low strings in an antiphonal duel. Furthermore, these hip-hop inspired rhythms and melodies can be taught by rote and easily memorized by your students. I personally recommend having your students stand up and play this piece by memory at the end of a concert or at a pep rally/celebratory occasion. The backing track that comes with the piece is optional to use BUT very fun to play along with! Play the accompanying backing using a high quality sound system or speaker. The first two measures of the track are count off measures. Students should begin playing at measure one aer they hear two full measures of the backing track.
