This choral essay is an all original setting of a text from "Carmina Gadelica," a collection of ancient poems from the western islands of Scotland, compiled by Alexander Carmichael (1900.) As the title suggests, the text is filled with nature imagery with reverence for the Creator's sovereignty in the celestial wonders above, the sea and land, and the whole globe. Especially profound is a scene depicting Mary and her child and a buildup depicting the light of the star illuminating the entire world with hope. It has been performed as a concert piece, and is effective in both a Christmas and General seasonal setting.
