God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

This up-tempo chart mixes Latin and swing styles to provide a unique selection for holiday concerts. Piano and bass start it out and then other sections are layered in to get the intensity flowing. The middle part of the arrangement features written or ad lib solos by alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 while the rest of the band lays down the chords and rhythms to keep the Latin feel. A short drum solo leads back into the melody before the whole band shifts to a swing style and then back to Latin to close it out.
