Goodbye to Tonality

This lesson plan may be used in either band class or general music classes. In band class it may be used with Themes of 20th Century Composers for Band. This plan shows how three composers, Alexander Scriabin, Charles Ives, and Arnold Schoenberg wrote music that was organized with a non-conventional, atonal approach. The plan includes an instruction page, audio examples, vocabulary, an adaptable sample multiple choice assessment, an answer key, and an order of instruction page with national core standards listed.
