Tangents

The term "tangent" appears in geometry, art, and language - it can describe lines, shapes, or thoughts that connect or touch but do not cross or overlap. In this exciting and creative work for young bands, the composer uses contrasting marcato and legato themes along with an underlying rhythmic ostinate to create an unsettled feeling - a suspenseful sense of "going off on a tangent."
