Grooved Pavement

Victor Lopez has penned this funky rock chart with a cool riff and a strong backbeat. It's in the style of Lee Morgan's famous Sidewinder and is a groove to play. There's a repetitive two-measure break that is the focus along with written or improvised solo space for alto, trumpet and trombone. There's lots of unison and the melody is sectionally traded with a building interlude that sets this chart apart. It's also playable with reduced or expanded instrumentations.
