Hail, Gladdening Light

An exciting concert opener or vibrant anthem, this short work was inspired by the Anglican choral tradition, with hints of Scotch snap rhythms in each of the four voices. With text derived from the Greek Christian hymn Phos Hilaron, this piece employs dynamic contrast and bright harmonies in praise of the Light.
