Hambone

What a unique composition! Three styles of music with roots in the African-American cultural tradition combine for this intriguing, rhythmically driven piece. Hambone rhythms, a cakewalk and early rock and roll elements inspired this work that incorporates body percussion and vocal effects. The CD-ROM included with the band set is an incredible teaching tool that offers a teacher's guide, historical notes about music of an oral tradition, games, composer interviews, program notes, midi accompaniments which allow students to play along while controlling the tempo and much, much more. This is a welcome new format for student discovery in performing concert band literature!
