Mike Dana's clever swing original is based on the chord changes to the popular tune Softly As In A Morning Sunrise. To further the imaging suggested by the original title, the medium advanced level chart begins softly, and ends in the same manner. Rhythm section parts are notated for the most part, with piano voicings provided even during solo sections. Lead trumpet range goes to D6 and lead trombone to G4. Here's a piece that is well written, solidly arranged, features beautifully layered orchestration, and has interesting parts for all to play...all reasons to make it a hit on the festival circuit.
