About the score, the composer writes : The numbers 1 to 19 represent 19 notes of the chromatic scale. Begin with the central chord (4, 11, 16), and following the lines, move to adjacent chords, always sustaining two voices and moving a third voice. Move slowly, carefully, until each of the 63 chords has been played at lest once, returning finally to (4,11,16). This score, written for Maik Hester in 2005, was often interpreted by him as an accordion solo and occasionally also by organists. The Hexagons can sound good played by three instruments (violin, viola, cello, for example), so this 2015 edition is also notated in traditional form.
