Hornpipe

This original hornpipe for full orchestra is based on the popular dance of the same name that is typical of those found in the British Isles. Its origin dates to the 16th century and is found in 3/2, 3/4, and 2/4 meter. As a solo dance, it has often been associated with sailors. The hornpipe follows the rondo form with simple four-measure phrases and strong cadences.
