The composer writes:
Great day to you, my brothers and sisters. My name is Frances Clark.
There is much diversity here in America. We all differ in one way or
another appearance, culture, religion, dialect and more. There are
also many ways and stories of how people arrived in America, and
perhaps how they have evolved into who they are today.
One of the most noted stories can be found within the African diaspora
where people were brought to the shores of America in 1619 and served
as slaves until June 19, 1865, when slavery was abolished. It is this
united blend of differences (among others) that makes us who we are.
I have written a song entitled, "I Am an American (A song of Renewed
Patriotism)." It is my sincerest prayer that once you have heard it and
internalized the lyrics, you too will experience that feeling of renewed
patriotism and no longer look at your brothers and sisters for their
differences, but instead for what unites you - seeing them as being an
American, just like you.
This song is for ALL people who are American. The motto suggested for
the United States in 1776 said, "Out of many, one," which is also known
as E Pluribus Unum. The song now begins with our Pledge of Allegiance.
