I Am the Gate

Canadian composer Michel Guimont gives us a rich and elegant setting of Jesus' call in the Gospel of John to all the lost sheep to enter through him, their gateway to salvation. This anthem moves back and forth between a gentle lyrical solo line and a rich four-part texture, which, though harmonically lush and adventurous, manages through its vocal writing and smooth voice-leading to be easily accessible to singers. This tranquil anthem lends itself to many occasions for worship or concert settings.
