This Christmas classic arranged for Jazz ensemble has all the contemporary trimmings for your holiday concert! The introduction features a brass chorale before giving way to the broken 16th-note groove with optional auxiliary percussion. The melody is set against a variety of fresh harmonies, textures, rhythmic interplay and counterpoint. The song form has been enhanced with a newly composed interlude and some holiday quotes. A brief return of the brass chorale sets up a rubato piano solo that leads to the climactic closing section. There are solo opportunities for guitar and tenor saxophone.
