The ballad, with a bit of swing feel, features a chorus evolving into an improvised section. This is "interrupted" by the full ensemble with a swinging, double-time section. The soloist continues in this feel until the ensemble once again takes over with a wonderful, strong statement in a return to the ballad setting. There is a cadenza near the end for the soloist, followed by a lovely ending. No one writes an instrumental feature better than Bill Holman. You need this one in your library!
