This setting captures the earnestness of the original hymn while creating something that allows the full breadth of choral expression. The vocal writing in stanzas 1 and 2 is purposefully simple, letting the soaring, inspired melody shine through. The final stanza shifts to an a cappella texture with full freedom for the choir to lean in to even greater expressive possibilities.
