The beautiful, calm, and lyrical finale to Faure's 1893 Requiem, here arranged for Grade 3 1/2 Concert Band. Incredibly sweet and melodic, this short 3 1/2 minute movement will prove moving for a high school band and provide numerous challenges in musical color and tone. The careful orchestration of Gabriel Faure is emulated here with a simpler band instrumentation, particularly centered on the woodwinds, who can really shine throughout the procession of the piece. Also written in is a very prominent oboe solo, originating from the original soprano line singing the hymn text, which is cued in both the first Alto Saxophone and first Trumpet, allowing any strong student in any of these sections to shine above the ensemble.
