Amlin’s dazzling moto perpetuo brilliantly weaves together a pair of trumpets, at times playing in harmony, at times spelling each other through subtle dovetailing of phrases, and always maintaining excitement through a self-refreshing thrill ride. Mercurial rhythmic groupings keep listeners (and performers) on their toes, particularly with a soundscape of piano interjections suggesting a pulse where we least expect it.
