Iron Mountain

Imagery from the legends surrounding Austria's ancient Erzberg mine is brought to life through a dramatic musical narrative for concert band. Simulated water droplets made by snapping evoke the cave of the Waterman, whose capture leads to a fateful choice between mining gold for a year, silver for ten years, or iron forever. Powerful anvil strikes in the finale celebrate the decision for iron as the mountain rises triumphantly at the close. A strong concert closer for developing ensembles.
