In this original he tips his hat to one of the most pivotal eras of jazz, namely the bebop period. Classic bop vocabulary is arranged for full big band and set in a bright swing feel as the band plays mostly as an ensemble until the solos for trumpet, trombone, and tenor sax. The ranges are relatively modest and the rhythmic figures are appropriate for advancing jazz ensembles. There is life after bebop! Very nice and highly recommended!
