It Is Finished

This Lenten motet is a setting of text from the Passion story according to St John. The melodic lines have a wandering, searching quality, and are interspersed with narrative passages that contain light dissonances to portray the angst in the text. Commissioned by Max Barley, Sarah Colley and The Choir of St Mary's, Wimbledon, as part of the choir's “Seven Last Words from the Cross” project.
