This holiday chart is a down-and-dirty funk chart based on the traditional favorite Angels We Have Heard on High. With a nice feel, it features syncopated rhythms, an interesting chord progression, and a written or improvised solo for tenor saxophone. Flexible instrumentation is a highlight in that it can be played with four, five or six winds with rhythm section. Additional parts are included so that it can be played with virtually any combination of winds and rhythm section. After opening with an easy written solo for piano on O Christmas Tree, the winds enter in a new key with an elegant statement of the melody. The tempo gets kicked up into swing tempo for a clever treatment of Jingle Bells, which flows nicely into Auld Lang Syne to wrap things up with a bow.

The Jackson 5 put an entirely different spin on this Christmas classic with their popular hit recording in 1970. This chart for young band features the energetic pop groove, plenty of scoring variety, and an optional vocal part just for fun.

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Ride on with this classic holiday tune scored for young jazz band accessibility. The style is a happy swing that will have your holiday concert audiences tapping toes and snapping fingers.
