"Blue Ridge Spring" is a unique and beautiful 6-minute orchestral work immersing you and your audience in the sounds of the Blue Ridge Mountains region of the Appalachian Mountain Range in North America.  It is set in the time of year when the spring season is finally settling in and life is bursting forth from dormancy after a long, freezing winter.  It features weaving melodies, soul-warming chords, shimmering textures, and innovative mimicry of local birds and insects.  Listeners have described this piece as a pleasant walk outside on an exceptionally beautiful day, as it evokes the energy of the rural outdoors with warm sun, blue skies, unpaved trails, wind in the trees, and birds singing all around you.

NOTE: A "Clarinet in Bb" optional transposition is included; "Clarinet in A" is the standard part.

- Verse 1, played by Acoustic Guitar and Flute featured solo and ending with a "Cold Snap" pause.
- Verse 2, played by Piano solo with winds, guitar, and strings accompanying.
- Chorus 1, soft.
- Verse 3, focusing on Strings with other instruments accompanying.
- Chorus 2, medium loudness.
- Cello solo transition.
- "Nature Soundscape" featuring mimicry from percussion, Flute, and string principals.
- Massive buildup into Chorus 3, with all musicians playing a grand finale.  There is a hold and pause just before the last phrase which gets played in a calm style with principal musicians weaving solos.
- The strings echo the last phrase of the Chorus in lush harmonies.
- Finish with a lush, warm chord from the ensemble.

"After Sunset" is a delightfully creepy art song for piano and voice, putting to music the masterfully crafted poem "After Sunset" by the Irish poet William Allingham (1824-1889).  It is perfect for Halloween themed performances or if you're looking for something dramatic!

---- Movement 1 ----

"Set out to roam" with the three ill-prepared mice on their grand adventure.  The movement starts with a grand introduction as dreams of fame and fortune strike the trio, then shifts to a beautiful soundtrack as their new adventure unfolds.

---- Movement 2 ----

Adorable una corda music elaborates on a segment of the nursery rhyme song as the resolve of the "Three Bold Mice" weathers the journey's setbacks.  The movement ends with a sudden and brief panic as the cat pounces and the "Three Scared Mice" are chased into the thorns.

---- Movement 3 ----

The same segment of the nursery rhyme song is transformed to a mournful blues with descending cluster chords as the Three "Sad", "Blind", and "Sick" Mice suffer from wounds, fatigue, and hunger.

The music offers a weak glimmer of hope as the "Three Wise Mice" find medicine for their ailments, gradually strengthening as the mice heal.

---- Movement 5 ----

The "Three Proud Mice"having survived and learned from their journeyfind success and are thriving as skilled artisans.  The music draws a loud, virtuosic happy ending featuring their lively industry and the realization of their grand dreams from Movement 1.
