Joker is a comical concert march that does not take itself too seriously. The march is full of humorous gestures such as eccentric melodies sudden dynamic changes and unexpected dissonances. The third strain makes fun of the classic concert march form. Instead of a traditional key change from the opening C Major to the dominant the march goes to a parallel a minor and C Major hybrid for ambiguity. As with tradition the piccolo and flutes have a countermelody which shows off their agility and provides more humorous augmentation. A rousing dogfight a powerful finish and a dissonant final chord solidifies the conclusion without losing its sense of unique style.
