In my sophomore year of high school, I was asked to arrange the holiday classic Joy to the World for the Booneville bands to perform at their annual Christmas concert. However, there was one catch – there needed to be a large Horn solo for the star hornist of the Intermediate Band! This solo (cued in the trumpet as well) showcases the higher range of the instrument, which was the biggest strength of the player I was writing for.
