This is a pleasant conversation between two flutes, with harmonic embellishment on collaborative piano.  Potential concert or contest piece, also useful as part of a prelude or as an offertory for worship services.  The overall texture is light, lilting, with sweet tones. Both the full score for piano and the flute parts are printed as a single unit.

C Instruments Trio

The A theme contains a beautiful duet using parallel thirds and parallel sixths between the instruments.  The form chosen is an eight part Rondo/Rondeau with themes in contrasting meters. The A theme is in 4/4, B in 5/8, A in 4/4, C  in 6/8, A' in 4/4, B in 5/8, D in 3/4, and A" in 4/4. meter.  The value of eighth notes remains constant throughout. Counting for the piece alternates between themes, being a bit challenging, yet satisfying for instrumentalists and audience. During the 5/8 sections there is a back and forth conversation, one at a time. Tonality is in C and D Major, with a few modulations within the B and D sections.  The piece is perfect for a recital, or contest, working equally well in a worship setting.  Initially composed for flutes, violins will enjoy, and perhaps a mixture of timbres would be delightful as well.  This duet is unaccompanied.

This majestic hymn is for the Easter Season.  The arrangement is a setting with Trumpet registration on the organ.  Multiple uses include being an introduction to congregational singing, an organ solo for Prelude or Postlude, and also inspiring when played for a memorial service. The original poetry explores all the beauty we might see, all the sounds we might hear, including chorusing of the frogs, all of the fragrances such as cherry blossoms, simply uplifting to all. For young voices in middle school and high school, this is an accessible, gorgeous, piece of program music in a strophic style, presented peacefully.  The audio preview was by an adult community choir. The original poetry plus evolving accompaniment on flute and piano make the piece enjoyable for singers and director alike.

SSA Instrumental Parts

This 17th century melody is full of joy plus cheer, lifting spirits for Easter Day and the Easter Season.  This arrangement may be useful as a Prelude, Offertory, for Special Music, or as an introduction to congregational singing.  Listen for the delightful use of the melodic line, contrasting eighth and sixteenth notes against the main melody statement of dotted quarter and eighth notes.  This creates an harmonic echo, with rhythmic contrast.  Careful attention has been given to articulation and phrasing as an aid to creating a lilting, spirited setting of the tune.  The score is notated on three staves, with the third staff for playing the pedalboard.

This Joyful Eastertide

These two hymn tune settings are creative interpretations of the familiar melodies.  They are paired for playing especially during the Autumn Festivals  and any Thanksgiving celebration.  ST. GEORGE'S WINDSOR is a stately, presentation featuring a solo stop in registration for the first verse followed by full organ for an uplifting conclusion.  SALZBURG is a cheerful, lilting piece with phrases highlighted with rubato.  The alternative title for SALZBURG is Let the Whole Creation Cry, which may be played throughout the church year.  Both pieces are scored with a separate staff for the pedal harmonies.

Come, Ye Thankful People, Come and Songs of Thankfulness and Praise

Original poetry and melody in a simple, sweet, yet heartfelt song yearning for peace throughout the night, throughout the world.  Voiced for Unison choir, or Mezzo Soprano solo, the four verses are appropriate any day. Two extra verses are listed, if performers wish to utilize all six stanzas, or choose to substitute. As a general concert piece it can also be programmed for Mother's Day or Father's Day. There is some flexible instrumentation with a gentle piano/ keyboard accompaniment. This harmonic support for the vocalist could be adapted for guitar. In addition, the melodic line could be played tenderly on the flute. Another usage of the composition is as an acappella piece for unison choir or soloist. The message of the lyrics is most important to express.

This is the choral part to a thoughtful, cheerful piece, honoring daybreak, with sunlight streaming over the horizon. This commissioned composition is appropriate anytime throughout the year, perhaps with special attention for Spring concerts. Secondary level students and conductors will find it appealing, as well as community choirs. The audio recording is by a women's chorus.

The familiar melody is complimented in a unique setting using pentatonic harmonies.  The usage of the damper pedal is essential on the piano, sustaining the harmonies surrounding the tune.  This piano solo would be appropriate any time throughout the year.  In a worship setting it could be part of a prelude, an offertory, or featured as special music.  It would also be a pleasant addition to a piano recital.

Jesus Loves Me

This setting of the familiar hymn tune for Holy Week is solemn.  I have woven chromatic harmony against the melody, while choosing an increase in dynamic level for each phrase. Each organist may decide the best registration to use for their instrument. Those of us today may see Holy Week with the understanding that Good Friday was not the final conclusion. It seems appropriate to me then, to resolve to a Picardy third at the close of the setting. If organist desires to repeat the piece, a minor harmony should be played on first ending, a Major harmony at the end.  This sacred music is useful during a prelude, for special music during worship, during communion, or as an offertory.  With purchase of an additional score, any C instrument could play the melody with the organ, since melody is always found in the upper voice. May you find this worshipful.

O Sacred Head Now Wounded

Based on a 19th century Norwegian carol, this is a sweet setting in 6/8 meter. The melody may be played as a solo on one manual, while the complimentary descant  harmony seems to dance lightly on 8' and 2' flutes on contrasting manual.  The piece could be incorporated into worship as an introit, an offertory, a hymn introduction, or part of a prelude.  It surely could be an addition to any Christmas program, or Holiday recital.  The setting has been scored for 3 staves, including an individual pedal staff.

I Am So Glad Each Christmas Eve

<p>This cheerful Christmas piece has multiple uses within worship, such as prelude, introit, or offertory. For Organ registration, Flutes 8' and 4' may be contrasted with 8' and 2'. Strings and Diapasons may be desired, depending on placement within the service. Other Christmas Recitals, and Holiday programs including International Carols would find the piece a perfect complement. The composition is scored on two adjacent staves, for manuals only. Angels We Have Heard On High

A lovely, light, setting by S. M. Clambey of the familiar French Carol GLORIA.  A perfect compliment to any Christmas Concert or holiday musical presentation.  Accessible for Piano as well as on Keyboard, where various sound choices could be enjoyed as additional verses.  Also available  separately is the setting for Pipe Organ manuals .

You will find the peaceful, calm, meaningful poetry by Susan M. Clambey to be coupled with her musical composition. The piece offers singers, instrumentalists and audiences alike a sense of peace.  SSA vocal lines are woven together, supported by collaborative Piano and collaborative Flute, presenting a beautiful tapestry of serenity.  Vocalists are engaged in expressive nuances within the spectrum of dynamics. The composition may be enjoyed and presented by both school and community choirs. Within the poetry we are reminded to "Take time for tranquility, Take time for peacefulness, Take time for serenity". Please note when ordering, the Flute part is available separately.
