Cielito Lindo is a classic mariachi song written by Quirino Mendoza Cortes in 1882. Its title is roughly translated as "Lovely Sweet One". Although the word cielo means "sky" or "heaven", it is also a term of endearment comparable to "sweetheart" or "honey." It's a romantic serenade, with lyrics that express admiration for a loved one's beauty and a desire to be with them. The song is believed to have been inspired by Mendoza's experiences as a musician and composer in Mexico City. Over time, Cielito Lindo became a beloved standard of Mexican music, covered by countless artists and featured in various films, including the 1936 movie Cielito Lindo.

La Cucaracha Con El Móno Colorado is a vibrant journey to Mexico through a special arrangement that combines two beloved folk songs: “La Cucaracha” (The Cockroach) and “Con El Moño Colorado” (With the Red Ribbon). This piece is a celebration of joyful melodies and the rich storytelling tradition of Mexican culture.  La Cucaracha has origins in Spain but became incredibly popular in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century. During that time, soldiers on all sides would make up new verses to the song, often to make fun of their opponents or to comment on the politics of the day. The "cockroach" in the song wasn't always just an insect; it often represented a political figure, like the unpopular president Victoriano Huerta. Con El Moño Colorado is a playful, charming folk song, often sung from the perspective of someone admiring a person or even a beloved animal wearing a colorful ribbon.

This piece follows a narrative of Enos launching into orbit then orbiting around the planet while and witnessing the majesty of earth from his shuttle. This work combines elements of electronic dance music, chimp sounds, sci-fi sound effects, and modal film harmonies into a a fun, unique, and exciting work for beginner orchestra. Musical motifs were inspired by recordings of a chimpanzee which were used in the creation of the electronic elements of the music.

Imagine sipping what you thought was a delicious, warm, and comforting bowl of goodness, only to discover an eight-legged guest lounging comfortably amidst the vegetables, floating on a well-cooked noodle.
