This exciting, energetic piece is perfect for concert or festival!  'Diadem' means crown; Diademata is based on
  the hymn tune 'Crown Him With Many Crowns'. 
  The opening is fast and flashy, followed by a slower second
  verse.  Clarinets are featured atop the
  chordal background.  A Da Capo recaps
  the faster section. 
    
     
    
    This piece is MUCH easier than it sounds. 
  The opening fanfare section sounds technical but the parts will fall
  under students fingers very quickly; the sixteenth notes are just an E-flat
  concert scale!  Ranges are very
  reasonable and the piece could be played by most middle school or any high
  school band.

This Christmas medley features "Three Great Kings" (Farandole) as a flute solo in a exotic, mysterious setting) then "We Three Kings." A triumphant return of the first tune completes the piece. Special thanks to Joe Allison and the Spring Valley High School Band for this recording.

March of the Kings

Based on Gustave Holst's tune "In the Bleak Midwinter," this chorale setting is a showcase for the timbres of the concert band: woodwinds, trumpet choir, low brass choir, and full band.

A Winter's Hymn

A medley of five well known songs by Steven Foster, America's first superstar song-writer. Styled after the popular Folk Song Rhapsodies, this playable piece works well for most high school bands. Five minutes long. Contains Capetown Ladies, Beautiful Dreamer, Nelly Bly, Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair, and Oh Susanna.

A Steven Foster Rhapsody

Here is a solid arrangement of the familiar graduation march.  Ranges are reasonable and technical demands are slight; any high school band can play this piece.  The melody trades around, so almost all sections have some rests. Written to offer many ending points at any double bar, just jump to the coda, which is the last line on all parts.

Pomp and Circumstance

Music like you would hear in an action movie, with fights, escapes, zombies, maybe dinosaurs, deep in the steamy wilderness. The music is a connected suite of three sections:  The Secret Plan, Into the Rain Forest, and The Lost City. The music features driving rhythms and harmonies with open fifths for a primitive sound. Special thanks to the Columbia (SC) Community Concert Band for their wonderful recording.

Rain Forest

Here's a clever round based on a tune by Mozart.  This was arranged for second year band, but will be rewarding for any middle school group.  This is a true round; as the layers of the round overlap, it creates the illusion of great complexity, but the parts for each instrument are quite simple. Very playable! Special attention is given to ranges, especially clarinets crossing the break.

The melody is "Jesus Loves Me," in a original, dramatic, creative arrangement. This beautiful arrangement is in turn ethereal, surprising, and moving.

This I Know

This processional march is often used for graduation, usually paired with
  Pomp and Circumstance.  It also makes a
  wonderful concert march.  
    
    This transcription of Mendelssohn's classic contains all the excitement and
  musical effect in very accessible form. 
  Ranges are easy and technical demands are minimal.  This piece would be perfect a small or
  young high school band.

War March of the Priests

A very playable piece for concert or festival. The opening is powerful and exciting, the main melody is catchy, and the slower section is a dreamy interlude. Suitable for any middle school or small high school band.

Sand Hills

This fantasy features the Christmas tune "Angels We Have Heard on High," opening with a powerful, exciting setting. The mood changes to a slower, peaceful chorale, then recaps the energetic ending. Special thanks to Joe Allison and the Spring Valley High School Band for this recording.

Angels!

The majestic opening is followed by a processional based on "My
  Country 'tis of Thee".  Clarinets
  play "America the Beautiful" 
  in a lovely contemporary chordal setting.  A dramatic 
  ending brings this

  voicing stay within easy reach of any high school and many middle school

America, America

Wassailing is an old Christmas tradition. It's a traveling party, and at every stop there is music and dancing, food and drink.  After four or five stops and things could get rowdy.  This is a fun Christmas piece for an experienced band.  Each verse of the wassail song brings a change of the key and tempo, ending with the jazz-rock finale.  Let's Wassail!

A-Wassailing

This patriotic medley starts with a powerful statement of 'America' (My Country 'Tis of Thee) followed by a lovely, sensitive arrangement of 'America the Beautiful' with contemporary harmonies.  With reasonable ranges, friendly keys, and no tricky technical demands, America, America! is easily playable by any high school band.  It's a really pretty arrangement, easy to put together, and you'll use it all year.
