Soon after its founding in 1912, the Vitak-Elsnic Company began publishing original march compositions and arrangements by Frantisek Kmoch, the "Bohemian March King." Kmoch often has been compared to a contemporary, John Philip Sousa, America's undisputed march king. Koline, Koline March is a tribute by Kmoch to his home town of Kolin (Czech Republic). The lyrics describe the grief caused by death of thousands of local soldiers in battle. It is one of his most famous marches and is the theme for the annual Kmoch Music Festival held in Kolin each June.
