Moonlight was inspired by my marimba etude of the same name. The etude comes from my book Soundscapes: Concert Etudes for Marimba.

The music takes the listener on a journey through soundscapes of the night - sounds that accompany an idea or place. Three main themes are heard throughout the piece. A long lyrical line first introduced in the bells, a mysterious melody introduced in the vibraphone, and a fast paced exciting theme first heard from the marimbas.

Moonlight should convey the excitement and mysteriousness of the night, and the beauty of moonlight shining through the clouds. The music ends with a section titled Dawn. The moon has set and the sun begins to rise.

Keyboard Percussion Quintet

Prelude for Percussion was influenced by some of my favorite percussion ensemble works including Chavez's Toccata, Malloy Miller's Prelude for Percussion, and Del Borgo's Preludio for Percussion. This piece is my homage to those amazing works.
Prelude for Percussion showcases the expressive and dynamic range of percussion instruments and serves as an exciting opener for a concert. What starts as an improvisatory march, turns into a tour de force of excitement and virtuosity.

Prelude for Percussion

Percussion Quintet

Pentamerous Overture is a beginner percussion ensemble piece with accessible instruments found in a band room! Pentamerous means consisting of five. Although only five parts, all can be doubled or tripled to get all percussionists in your ensemble involved. Pentamerous Overture can serve as an exciting opener for any concert program.

Pentamerous Overture

<p>Oddity is a mallet quartet with an optional bass drum part. This piece was written for my students at the Eastman Community Music School. All mallet parts only require two mallets allowing the players to work on fast and repetitive mallet passages. Oddity is an episodic work representing the strange and peculiar moments we encounter in life. Mallet choice is left to the ensemble, but should aim for clear rhythmic articulation with a blended sound between all instruments.</p>
<p>Instrumentation: Two 4.3 Marimbas. Marimba 2 has two low Ab’s which can be changed to a Bb for 4.3 marimba. Either note works! Vibraphone, Glockenspiel, Bass Drum (optional.)</p>

Keyboard Percussion Quartet

Within the Sea is an advanced level timpani solo for four drums. This piece takes the listener on a journey through multiple sea themes, demanding both musical and virtuosic playing from the soloist.

A welcome piece on to any recital!

This piece was composed as a fulfillment of my Performer's Certificate jury at the Eastman School of Music.

Gibbs Groove was written for the Stick Talk Percussion Ensemble at the Eastman Community Music School. Eastman is located on Gibbs St. in Rochester, NY where the piece was both written and premiered.
Gibbs Groove features members of the ensemble in a small set up. This piece allows young percussionists to strengthen both ensemble and listening skills. Repetitive patterns slowly develop as the piece progresses while maintaining a recognizable groove.

A looking glass is an archaic term for a mirror. The phrase, "through the looking glass," is often associated with Lewis Carroll's book, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There. In the story, Alice steps through a looking glass and enters a bizarre and illogical world."Through the looking glass" can describe moments that are strange or magical and experiences that are opposite of what is normal and expected.The Looking Glass marimba duet should represent the magical, strange and illogical moments we experience in life.For two 5 octave marimbas.
