Last Lullaby

This setting of this text was created to memorialize the 20 children who were murdered on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. A skillful marriage of music with word captures a sense of hope for a "new day." The soprano solo acts as the mother singing a lullaby to her child. The final phrase of the poem is a Latin prayer that provides a reflective moment: "May they rest eternally. Grant them rest in the eternal Light, the perpetual Light. Amen."
